I have to say that I’ve been doing pretty well in terms of not buying any new makeup. If I’m not mistaken, the only product I bought over the last couple of weeks is the Pillow Talk lippie. I won’t say I wasn’t tempted, but I keep reminding myself that I really want to become a bit more mindful about my beauty-spending, since I’m pretty much drowning in products. My husband keeps joking (or not really) that pretty soon we’ll need a bigger house. My goal is to only buy products that I know I’ll use- not because they look pretty or because I want them in my collection.
Moving on.
I’m loving IT Cosmetics new foundation: Confidence in a Compact* (you can find my review right here). As I mentioned in my review, this solid serum foundation is a bit tricky to use. Applying it with a brush isn’t really ideal, but the applicator that this compact comes with works great. I noticed that the more I use it, the product becomes more creamy and easier to work with. It gives nice coverage (light to medium) and doesn’t dry out the skin.
Another foundation that you’re probably sick of seeing in my WIMMB posts is the Chanel Vitalumière Aqua. It has a very sheer, delicate coverage and is perfect for creating a fresh and natural-looking base.
I’ve also been testing out a few products from Claré Blanc Minerals*. It’s been a while since I’ve used mineral makeup, there was a point when I actually used it exclusively, so it’s nice to get familiar with it all over again. So far I’m really loving their Luminizing Mineral Powder in Be Mine and their blushes in Peach Pop and Powder Pink. I’m not a huge fan of very bright blush colors, but these are perfect and look quite natural. They definitely need to be used sparingly as they have a very nice color payoff. The powders feel very soft and smooth on the skin as well.
At this point, I’m still struggling with those awful dark circles under my eyes, as a side effect from Absorica. IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination*, which has insane coverage (see the it in action in this post) is my go-to concealer right now. Yet again, this is another IT Cosmetics product that is a bit tricky to use- and that’s because the formula is very rich so it needs be warmed up a bit before applying directly to skin. Once you figure out how to use it though, it works amazingly well at covering dark circles.
Glō Minerals is another mineral makeup brand I was just introduced to. Their lippies in Organza and Fixation are gorgeous shades for spring. They have a nice, creamy formula and are richly pigmented. Speaking of lipstick, I am obsessed with Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk. I’ve been wearing it almost every single day and love everything from the formula to the color. It’s a nude that I think will be flattering on every skin tone. When it comes to nude lipsticks, it’s usually a hit or miss for me, but this one is beautiful. Two other nude-ish shades that I’m reaching for at the moment are Kat Von D’s Bow n Arrow and Too Faced Cool Girl (because I’m boring like that).
Can’t forget Glossier Boy Brow Clear (get 20% off your first order). I’m still trying to grow out my brows and the little hairs are all over the place, so this has been my go-to lately and it’s definitely a keeper. Keeps the brows in place all day.
