THIRTEEN THOUGHTS

What’s in my Makeup Bag: March

I have been LOVING lip gloss products lately- as you can probably tell by a couple of my recent makeup bag posts. There have been so many beautiful lip gloss releases lately, and I have to admit that a pretty glossy lip goes very well with a fresh, minimal makeup look I’ve been going for lately.

My newest gloss obsession are Rimmel’s Stay Glossy glosses. They don’t have a sticky formula and feel just like lip balm, but with a beautiful, shiny finish. I wear them both alone and over other lip products and they work great with both options. My favorite out of the few I use is Dorchester Rose which is a delicate baby pink.

I finally tried Glossier’s Skin Tint and it works just as I expected- nothing more, nothing less. It’s has a very sheer formula with minimal coverage, so it’s a nice everyday kind of product that just makes getting ready in the morning very easy. I’ve tried using it with a buffing brush, beauty blender, and just my hands and I think that keeping it simple works best. When using a beauty blender and a brush I feel that both just soak up so much product that it doesn’t even show on the skin. Being as sheer as it is, you already don’t get a lot in terms of coverage, but when using your hands/fingers, you do get a bit more. The color match is great, too.

I also picked up their Stretch Concealer in the same shade (G11) and while I was left feeling a bit neutral about the Skin Tint (it really just does the same as a good moisturizer would, making the skin look fresh, healthy and hydrated), I immediately fell in love with the concealer. It covers mild discoloration very nicely, while also looking and feeling just like skin. Love how easily it blends and it wears very comfortably, too.

Since finally trying Dior’s Airflash foundation, I’ve already gone through at least four bottles. I do try to reach for other foundations and save this one for special occasions, but the formula is just so effortless and blends so nicely that I find myself using it all the time.

A few weeks ago I also tried their Airflash Radiance Mist Primer & Setting Spray and sadly, I love it just as much as the foundation. I say sadly because just like the foundation, it’s pricy. It’s a spray that sets, preps and refreshes makeup. I love using it before applying my foundation- not really feeling this as a setting spray. I don’t find it being incredibly hydrating (which I hoped for) but it does do an amazing job at smoothing the skin and prepping it for base product application. I love that it smooths and blurs the skin without feeling heavy or film-y like some silicone primers do. It does also add a pretty radiance to the skin. I have to say that I don’t imagine this working too well with very dry skin types though. When my skin is well taken care of, this works great, but as soon as my skin has one of those very dry moments, this mist tends to accentuate those dry spots. It will still smooth and blur the skin, but just at a price of making those dry spots more prominent. Just like with the foundation, applying, or rather spraying the product directly onto the face, can end up being a little messy as it can get into your hair, etc. I like spraying it in the center of my face, then using my beauty blender to blend it out.

For the longest time, I considered myself to not be much of a blush person. I still like to keep it very natural in that department, but I’ve been reaching for and trying more and more cheek products. Rimmel’s Maxi Blush in Third Base* is a little similar to NARS Orgasm but less pigmented, and I’m here for it. It’s a light pink with a touch of pretty shimmer. I’ve always loved my blushes on the sheer side and while the coverage can be very easily built up, I love the delicate formula.

Speaking of cheek products, I’m still very much in love with the RMS Beauty Champagne Rose Luminizer. It gives the most beautiful, youthful glow that’s also quite subtle. For brightening my eyes, I love ohii’s Wakeup Pen in Pearl– I usually use it under my concealer.

Every time I re-purchase my favorite mascara, Dior’s Iconic Overcurl, I ask myself “why do I even bother using anything else?” Well, the answer is that I love trying new mascaras, but Overcurl will forever be a favorite simply because it just gives me everything I want: length, volume, and a nice curl, without having to reach for my eyelash curler.
