When you’ve been collecting, testing and reviewing beauty products for as many years as I have, you always get excited about newly released products. After a while though, you also notice that a lot of them, especially if we’re talking eyeshadow palettes here, are quite similar. I mean, how many times can you get excited about a neutral eyeshadow palette?

Well, the answer is: an unreasonable amount of times. Admittedly, I have way too many neutral palettes in my collection. Urban Decay Naked Cherry Collection* is quite different. It includes a Naked Cherry Eyeshadow Palette* which includes new neutrals and cherry-hued shades, Naked Cherry Highlight and Blush Palette*, two new Glide-on Eye Pencils* in Love Drug (deep metallic wine) and Black Market (black satin shade), three new Vice Lipsticks: Juicy*, Devilish*, and Cherry*, and a scented version of the beloved All Nighter* makeup setting spray. As far as the All Nighter goes, it’s one of the best setting sprays I’ve ever used, but I have to say that the scent of this version doesn’t remind me of cherries at all. It’s a barely detectable scent that I just cannot identify.

The Naked Cherry Palette*- isn’t she a beauty? I have all NAKED palettes, and the original, soon-to-be-discontinued, NAKED, will always be my favorite. After using it a few times, I think that the Naked Cherry could be a close second-favorite. There is no question that it’s nothing like I currently have in my collection. Coppers I love, but deep reds, burgundy, and plums are usually colors I use on my lips, not my eyes. I have to say that I was very pleasantly surprised by how easy and not-at-all intimidating these cherry-inspired shades were. While the eyeshadows swatched beautifully on my arm when using fingers, not all shades pick up very well when using a brush. Shimmery/metallic shades in this palette especially, pick up a lot better when applied with a finger/wet brush. A good primer is also a must to get the colors to truly show up on the lids and look as pigmented as they do in the pan.

The 12 shades include: Hot spot (ivory matte), Caution (neutral matte beige), Bang Bang (shimmering pink with gold shift), Feelz (dusty matte rose), Juicy (soft warm peach), Turn On (metallic rose shimmer), Ambitious (metallic copper rose), Bing (deep matte mauve), Devilish (red matte plum), Young Love (metallic cranberry), Drunk Dial (deep metallic burgundy) and Privacy (deep matte brown-plum).

The Urban Decay Naked Cherry Collection also includes three limited edition Vice Lipsticks: Juicy, Devilish, and Cherry. Juicy is a light, peach-pink with copper micro-shimmer and metalized finish. Devilish is a berry pink with tonal micro-shimmer and metalized finish. Cherry is a deep berry wine shade with a cream formula. I have SO much love for Urban Decay’s Vice Lipsticks (they’re seriously amazing) and the formula of these three, limited edition ones is as nice as usual. Juicy and Devilish are both on the sheer side, which I don’t mind. I never had much love for metalized finishes, but I do like Juicy quite a bit because it’s just so sheer and delicate and not intimidating- a great color to use on top of a lip balm for a minimal look. Devilish just looks too metalized on me, giving me that frosty look I can’t stand (on myself). Cherry ended up being my favorite out of the bunch, with its creamy and richly pigmented formula.

Naked Cherry Highlight + Blush Palette*– my favorite part about this trio is, surprisingly, the blush. Usually, blush is one of my least-loved makeup products, but this one is just beautiful and works so nicely with my skin tone. It’s subtle and delicate- just what I like from my blush. Seeing as this trio is part of a “cherry” collection, I’d expect something a bit more deep and rich, but I’m not mad about it. The highlighter is beautiful, although not very unique. The Transparent Iridescent Pink Shimmer, on the other hand, is quite the opposite. I’ve tried a few iridescent highlighters before and none of them looked as pretty on my skin like this one. It was actually pretty difficult to capture the full effect on camera, so pictures do not do it justice. While all three are fair-skin friendly and work well with my skin, I really don’t see this palette showing up on darker/richer skin tones, which is a shame. I think it’d be nice to perhaps see two or three versions of this palette so that no makeup lover would feel excluded.  While beautiful, I don’t see it working with many skin tones.
