Here, my friends, is my little “use in case of a skin emergency” army.
In a perfect world, I’d always get enough sleep, keep my diet clean and stick with my skincare routine. That perfect world, of course, doesn’t exist.
Sometimes, even when everything else is going well, my skin still likes to act up, just to remind me, that it can. For me, this usually includes unexplained sensitivity, redness, a little breakout here and there, or stubborn dryness that just won’t go away. These are a few products I can always trust on those occasions.
Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial– if your skin suffers from dullness, clogged pores, and hyperpigmentation, this AHA/BHA blend treatment can quickly become your best friend. This little gem is amazing at evening out the skin’s texture, brightening the complexion, and with continued use, it also improves tone.
Fresh Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask– another quick fix for when your skin needs a little boost or is feeling (or looking) a little “blah.” This velvety-smooth face mask is slightly cooling, smoothing and a little firming. I find that it helps both with redness and occasional flakiness. It’s also one of my favorite masks to use before special occasions when I know I’ll be wearing a lot of makeup.
Lixir Universal Emulsion– my dry skin loves this little multitasker. It immediately hydrates and brings comfort back to my skin, without feeling heavy or greasy. Works really well under makeup as well, as it preps the skin, so it can be used in place of a makeup primer. This emulsion can also be used all over, too- face, neck, hands, arms, etc.
Caudalie Grape Water is another dry skin favorite, I love reaching for this both before and after applying makeup. Perfect pick-me-up that’s refreshing and works great with sensitive skin.
For quickly adding some color when I don’t want to wear a lot of makeup- Josie Maran Argan Oil Color Stick in Rosey. This color stick is creamy, delicate and you can very easily blend it in using your fingers, so no tools required. Whenever I want to look a bit more alive (like today, as I’m battling a cold) I reach for this baby. It can be used both on lips and cheeks and it’s a very natural, pretty color.
MUFE’s Ultra HD Lip Booster in Light Pink. My favorite for my no-makeup days that not only adds a hint of color, but it’s also a hydrating serum that’s slighting plumping. It can be worn on its own or used as a lip primer if you suffer from chronically dry lips.
Ohii Wake Up Pen in Pearl– it helps quickly brighten the under eye and brow bone areas for a natural and dewy look. This won’t give you any coverage, I really love using it under my concealer though.
Speaking of concealer, one of my all-time favorites has got to be IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye Illumination Concealer. The coverage is just as impressive as with the original Bye Bye Undereye, you can see a before and after in my review post right here. The Illumination version of the concealer adds a bit of radiance.
Patchology sheet masks and eye gels are all about a “quick fix.” At night I like to use their Restoring Night Eye Gels (keeping them on for only about 5 minutes) and in the morning I go with the new Illuminating Eye Gels.* These little guys are perfect to use when prepping your skin for makeup- again, they work in as little as 5 minutes. These eye gels are great to use on days when you’re not feeling too well, or didn’t get enough sleep. Their Breakout Box is also pretty awesome and great to keep in your little “use in case of an emergency” stash.
This list would not be complete without IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Redness Neutralizing Correcting Cream. The tiny jar contains 0.37oz of the product but what’s inside is SO powerful. All you need is a very small amount of product to get amazing coverage- this is a must-have for anyone who suffers from redness. It blends very easily and covers any redness and discoloration, so this one product is all you need for a flawless complexion.
Do you have any “quick fix” beauty favorites?
