I am crazy about matte finishes, especially when it comes to lip products. As you guys probably know NYX Matte Lipsticks are one my favorite lipsticks in the entire universe (especially Audrey-it’s definitely my go-to color), so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that my favorite lippie of the moment is also from NYX, and it’s also one with a matte finish.
NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Milan is a gorgeous pink shade that has a very unique and incredible texture. When I picked “Milan”, I was actually hoping that this color would more of a natural pink and was a bit surprised at how bright it was. Love it nonetheless, but that just tells you, you can’t always judge a product by its packaging (AND PLEASE when will drugstores start providing product testers?! So sick of picking up a lipstick and finding that someone has already opened it, used it and put it back on the shelf!). NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Milan is just one of those shades that you can rock with nothing else but mascara on, and it instantly brightens your face and makes you look put together.
First thing I noticed was the irresistible smell of this lip cream, it smells just like vanilla cake batter (don’t use this while hungry). It goes on so very smooth on the lips and has a very velvet-like feel to it, that I have to say I haven’t experienced with any other lip product before. I was a little surprised to find that when first applied the finish was not completely matte, as it had a slight sheen to it. After a few minutes the finish turns completely matte and it lasts for a good few hours. I’d say that it looks great for the first 3 hours and then it starts to slightly wear off at the edges. Pigmentation is also superb- one layer is enough to achieve a great color payoff. I noticed that on these pictures the finish seems to be not very matte-like, but I think it’s because of my new ring light (which, by the way, makes my skin look flaaawleeess- also I can’t help but to admire how long my lashes have gotten!!!! I’ll write all about that very soon.) I love the fact that despite this being a matte product, it isn’t drying at all.
I have to say that as much as I love this lip cream, it gets all over the freaking place! I used a neutral lip liner as a base and still had to clean up the corners with a concealer. That’s definitely not something that would discourage me from buying more of these. In comes in 22 shades, named after different cities of the World and I seriously want to get my hands on the rest of these. Each sells for about $6.00, which I think is great for the quality of the product.
Have you guys tried any of these? Which color should I try next?
