Neutrogena Ultra Light Cleansing Oil
As much as I love makeup, I always look forward to removing it as soon as I get home after work.
I’ve been using oils for removing my makeup for quite a while now. Jojoba oil still seems to be my favorite, but I also really love trying new ones as well. After being really impressed with Garnier’s Nourishing Cleansing Oil (you can find my review right here) I decided to give another drugstore product a try, this time from Neutrogena.
“Neutrogena Ultra-Light Cleansing Oil is the ultimate one-step cleanser that removes 99% of dirt, oil, and makeup with no greasy residue. A lightweight cleanser with a blend of natural oils that act like a magnet to extract oil and impurities from deep within the pores. This unique water-soluble formula rinses completely clean so it won’t clog pores or leave a greasy residue. Removes 99% of dirt, oil, makeup, even waterproof mascara, without stripping skin.”
Similar to the Garnier oil, the main ingredient here is mineral oil.
Why I like it:
-it dissolves makeup very nicely, even mascara
-unlike a lot of products of similar nature, this does not leave an oily residue on my skin
-I really like the fact that the packaging has a pump
-it’s very lightweight
What I don’t like:
-the amount of fragrance in this product is a little ridiculous. The scent is not only strong but also very weird. It has that really fake, plastic-like cherry smell which I just don’t understand. A lot of my skincare products have slight fragrance in them, but this is just an awful, sweet, candy-like smell that I just can’t stand. Fragrance in skincare can also irritate your skin which is exactly what happened when I used this oil to clean up swatches from my arm. I had a little cut there, and my arm burned like a mofo.
While it’s great at removing makeup, I probably won’t use this oil too often because I just can’t stand the scent. It definitely ruins the product for me and if there was a fragrance-free version of this, I’d buy it in heartbeat. If you’re looking for a nice and affordable cleansing oil definitely give the Garnier one a try! Aaaand if you don’t mind that overly sweet and artificial cherry scent, then you’d probably really like Neutrogena’s Ultra Light Cleansing Oil.

November 4, 2015 at 3:29 pmGood to know! I’m not keen on heavily fragranced skincare (or makeup) products! I’ve been looking for a nice and affordable cleansing oil (that won’t break me out) so I’m gonna check out the Garnier! <3

November 5, 2015 at 1:50 pmYou’re gonna love the Garnier one! It does have a fragrance, but much more delicate and not nearly as bothersome as this one!

November 4, 2015 at 4:01 pmWE don’t have the whole Neutrogena range in UK but I will remember to stay away from this oil :) Not long ago I bought a cleansing oil from The Body Shop and seriously I couldn’t stand the smell of it and just threw it away, oops. x

November 4, 2015 at 4:18 pmNot sure if u would like this if it’s so heavily scented! I’ve never really noticed it in any drugstores here so maybe we don’t have it!

November 5, 2015 at 2:02 pmI think it’s fairly new because I just noticed it myself haha ;) The scent definitely ruins it for me, otherwise it would have been an awesome product!

November 4, 2015 at 4:44 pmNot sure I would like this if the smell isn’t that good. I’m a huge fan of coconut oil, it’s amazing at removing every last scrap of makeup.

November 5, 2015 at 2:03 pmI love coconut oil, but I don’t like using it on my face because it breaks me out, but I love it for my hair and as a body moisturizer! ;)

November 5, 2015 at 2:05 pmRight? I really don’t know why they would use this kind of fragrance in an otherwise great product! This stuff seriously smells like cough syrup lol ;)

November 4, 2015 at 6:58 pmI’m not a fan of the sweet, fruity scents either. Good to know! I’ve never tried cleansing oils before, so I’ll have to try them sometime!

November 4, 2015 at 11:14 pmWhy must products that work well from the drugstore also have terrible scents. Though I always try to stay away from mineral oil. Good ol’ Olive Oil never treats me wrong. Any recommendations for mineral oil free face oils?

November 5, 2015 at 2:11 pmNot all of them have horrible scents, but this one is just awful haha :) I’m sure that there’s someone who’d like it, I just don’t see why a skincare product would smell like candy. I love Physicians Formula Argan Oil- it’s another great drugstore find http://amzn.to/1MlF4MU ;)

November 5, 2015 at 7:09 pmIt sounds really effective, but it’s a shame about the heavy fragrance! I don’t know why brands do it for facial skincare :( xx
