While everyone else is sipping on eggnog this Christmas, I will be enjoying a nice warm glass of mulled wine. It smells absolutely amazing with all the spices, oranges and cinnamon and tastes delicious.
What I used:
three cups of red wine (I used Cabernet Sauvignon)
1/3 cup of honey (or sugar)
7 cloves (whole)
3 star anise
2 cinnamon sticks
1 orange, sliced
a tiny sprinkle of ground ginger
I combined all of the above ingredients in a saucepan, brought it to a boil, lowered the heat and let simmer for 15-20 minutes and served warm using oranges, cinnamon sticks and star anise for garnish.
