MAC Rebeleyes Gel Liner
As much as I love eyeliner, I have yet to find one that I’d stay absolutely faithful to.
Of course, one of my favorites has to be Stila All Day Waterproof Eye Liner but I do have to say that with frequent use, the felt tip loses a bit of its preciseness over time. I also really like using gel liners, because I love having that control that they allow. There is only one problem with them; they dry out rather quick. That’s when I usually use some eye drops or Argan oil, but it’s also an additional step that I have to take each time I do my makeup which can be a pain. That is why I got really excited that MAC released a gel liner in a pen; MAC Rebeleyes Gel Liner:
“Now introducing a whole new take on ebony eyes. Our innovative Rebeleyes Gel Eye Liner serves up the extreme long-wear of gel liner with the ease of a pen. The pigmented non-staining ink is delivered through a sleek, easy-to-use click pen with a precision that could rival a calligrapher’s quill. Its unique flocked tip feels luxurious as it hugs the lash line and coats eyes with bold streaks of matte colour.”
MAC Rebeleyes Gel Liner
What I love about it:
-the color is intense and insanely black, which is just how I like my eyeliner to be
-very matte finish
-it’s amazing at getting in between the lashes and lining the lash line
-it has a creamy and very long-lasting formula
-because it’s a click-pen, the gel liner is never dry, as you only dispense how much you want to use
What I didn’t love about it:
-this cannot be used with the same ease as liquid pen eyeliners; you need to be careful how much product you dispense. Because this is a gel formula, if too much product is dispensed and applied directly on your lash line, it leaves big blots of gel liner behind.
-as creamy and smooth the formula is, I didn’t find this liner to be too easy to use. If you’re like me and prefer your eyeliner to be on the thinner side, then you’d definitely need to be careful while applying this.
-when I said that this eyeliner is long-lasting, I meant it. I found it difficult to remove even with an oil-based makeup remover. Now, I don’t really want to say that this is something that I don’t like about this liner because who doesn’t like a long-lasting makeup product, but like I said, it can be difficult to remove.
So what is my final verdict? To be honest, I’m not too sure myself. I think that because I’ve never used a gel liner in a pen before, I still need to get used to it a little bit. There are so many things that I love about MAC Rebeleyes Gel Liner, like the intense matte finish, but I also don’t think that it’s as precise as I was hoping it would be. I’ll definitely continue to use and see if there perhaps is a trick to using it.
Have any of you guys used a gel liner in a pen before? What type of eyeliner do you find easiest to use?

November 20, 2015 at 9:55 amThis looks similar to the benefit push-up liner! I love the overall look it gives: matte and opaque, but they’re definitely trickier to use. I’m iffy about them too. I didn’t know that MAC had a version as well though! If it’s as creamy as you say, I might have to try it! Xx

November 27, 2015 at 9:18 amIs the Benefit one also a gel formula? Yeah this definitely isn’t as easy to use as I hoped!

November 20, 2015 at 10:17 amThis reminds me the Benefit Push-Up liner which I never got on with so I don’t think I would like this one either. Really want to try the Stila one you mention though :) x

November 20, 2015 at 10:28 amI have something similar by Maybelline and I just cannot learn to love it. I think I like deciding and controlling the thickness and when it’s done for me I tend to just forget about the product!

November 20, 2015 at 11:15 amI have never used a gel liner pen before either. I always want to love liner pens, but I find myself using an angled brush all the time. One day I’ll find the perfect one <3

November 20, 2015 at 11:20 amI have no idea how to put eyeliner on so I probably shouldn’t start with this one. What’s a good eyeliner you can reccomend for someone who has only basic makeup skills like me?

November 27, 2015 at 9:42 amDefinitely a liquid eyeliner in a pen, those are the easiest to use, you can see what my favorites are right here: https://www.thirteenthoughts.com/16879/best-liquid-pen-eyeliners

November 20, 2015 at 3:33 pmI have never used gel liner before. I’ve only really used liquid and pen. After reading this review I might actually look into trying it out!

November 27, 2015 at 9:51 amI love using gel liner, but I’m not sure how I feel about one in a pen! Love how pigmented it is, but it can be a bit tricky to apply.

November 20, 2015 at 3:46 pmWow, I’ve been wondering when there will ever be a gel liner in a pen! I have to check this out, since I have been using gel liners that come with an extra brush and a pot, which sometimes can be an inconvenience…thanks so much for reviewing this!

November 20, 2015 at 6:28 pmThis looks very similar to the Benefit Push Up liner and a Maybelline one I have too! I really like the concept but find I waste a lot of product and the back of my hand gets so dirty getting rid of the excess! The swatches look so black!

November 21, 2015 at 8:53 pmI’ve tried the benefit one before but it’s just too much work to get the perfect line and all that! Plus, they don’t come cheap! I still prefer good ol liquid liners! :D Thanks for the review, guess lots of brands are coming out with this kind of liner now!

November 22, 2015 at 6:08 pmI’m yet to try these kind of gel liner pens and I do worry that I would find it difficult because I’m quite used to using liquid pens or just the regular gel liner with a brush for more precise application. Definitely something I’ll check out in stores though x

November 23, 2015 at 12:08 amI have ventured into gel eyeliners a few times before, however I’ve never really found they really compare with a good liquid eyeliner. My HG is the Stila All Day Waterproof Eyeliner as you mentioned – I can’t really fault it, however I do agree that it’s not as precise after a little while of using it.
Thanks for sharing! Hope you had a nice weekend x

November 24, 2015 at 1:50 amWow I hadn’t heard about this liner before! It looks interesting, but I’m all about that precise cat eye so it probably won’t work for me. My fave right now is MAC liquid eye liner. The staying power is much better than the Stila pen. I totally agree with you about how annoying the tip of the Stila one got after a while!
