I know that we’re just now getting that true, winter weather.
I can’t help but daydream about Spring already. Using my favorite Spring fragrance never fails to put a smile on my face and makes me feel like warm weather is just around the corner. Fresh Beauty’s Cannabis Santal is one of those fragrances, with wild strawberry, rose and vanilla musk. I have a lot of love for unisex scents- especially ones that are such a good mix of musky and fruity notes, like this one. Jo Malone’s Peony & Blush Suede is another current favorite that I can’t seem to get enough of, as is AnOther 13 by Lel Labo.
AnOther 13 has woody ambery, moss and musk notes and it’s one of the most beautiful scents I’ve ever used. I really do wish that the scent was more lasting though. Before I got the bottle, I went through many, many samples and for some reason, those were a lot more long-lasting. It’s an absolutely gorgeous and unique scent, unlike anything else I’ve ever used, but I do wish that it lasted throughout the day.
If there is one product my dehydrated skin has definitely been loving lately, it’s Drunk Elephant’s B-Hydra Serum. It works great both when used under and mixed with moisturizing creams. I like mixing with C-Firma– which is the only Vitamin C Serum that doesn’t break me out. C-Firma on its own feels a bit too sticky, and when mixed with B-Hydra, it feels more comfortable. The B-Hydra Serum has been so good at balancing my dehydrated skin, but I find that it does have to be used with a moisturizer to get the best results.
This month I’ve also rediscovered one of my favorite cleansers, Pixi’s Rose Cream Cleanser. It’s almost impossible to find it in stock at my local Target. Despite being a mud cleanser it is very gentle and non-drying on the skin. It works great as a second step of the double-cleanse for my hormonal acne-prone skin. I never use cleansers to remove makeup, unless it’s a balm or oil-based one, but if I did, this is probably not one I’d reach for.
Eucerin’s Original Healing Cream has been a savior for my skin this Winter. I tend to get a runny nose when I’m cold, and my constant tissue use combined with Retin-A Micro used every night leaves my nose and cheeks very dry. Even when I only step outside for a short period of time, the cold, dry air takes a toll on my skin- sometimes to the point of feeling very irritated. This Eucerin Healing Cream is amazing at sealing moisture and I like to use it as the last step in my night skincare routine. I actually used to use a Destin diaper rash cream, or Elizabeth Arden’s 8 Hour Cream around my nose, but the Healing Cream seems to be working much better.
With so many new brands and constant new releases, I feel like MAC lipsticks have been forgotten about. They’ll always be my favorite, though. In the formula, color selection, as well as different finishes. Lately, I’ve been really loving the Powder Kiss formula, specifically Burning Love, Werk, Werk, Werk and Stay Curious.
These clear caps are also a game-changer. Not only are they a perfect fit, but they make finding the shade I’m looking for very easy. I used to store them upside down, just so that I could read the names, without having to pick every single one of them up. Whatever color I was looking for somehow always ended up being the last one I reached for. Definitely a must for anyone with a large collection. You can also find these clear caps for YSL and NYX lipsticks. I store them in this acrylic storage, which also comes in a smaller, 12-lipstick size.
Other lip products I’ve been loving are lilah b. Lovingly Lip Tinted Oils and Rimmel’s Stay Glossy lip glosses. The Lovingly Lip Tinted Oils have an incredible, velvet-like, hydrating formula with really nice color payoff. My two favorite colors are b. romantic, which is a petal pink, and b. elegant, a peachy-nude.
I’ve mentioned Stay Glossy glosses before, and I still love them. The two I use the most are Seduce Me (clear gloss) and All Nighter (a shimmery peach). They don’t only look beautiful but are also very hydrating and I often use them in place of a lip balm.
And the last item on this month’s list is the Flamingo razor. This razor works just as good as men’s razors, which is what I used to use. I was surprised when I saw that it was made by Harry’s because I’ve used and liked them, but I do get a much closer and smoother shave with Flamingo. Their shave cream is awesome, too and it really makes a difference in terms of getting a closer shave and not irritating the skin.
Probably the best part about Flamingo is how inexpensive the razor blades refills are- a pack of 4 is only 9 bucks and I get them at Target. I haven’t had any issues with the blades rusting, so I was surprised that when writing this post, I actually came across quite a few negative reviews. I will say that their wax strips do suck. When first trying out Flamingo, I bought all their products, with the exception of the Mons Mist. The wax strips were completely useless, so I definitely recommend you stay away from those.
