At the beginning of this year, I shared my thoughts about buying too much makeup and being more mindful about my beauty spending. After getting rid of a huge portion of my beauty collection, I try to rotate between some of my favorite products, rather than letting them sit and collect dust. Tarte’s Tartelette palette is one of my favorite eye palettes in my collection. Love that it’s an all-matte palette, the shades are beautiful, they blend very easily and go on very smooth and I’ve been using it all the time lately. Sometimes, you forget just how much you love a product, if you don’t use for a while.
I always get overly excited, whenever I find a new base combo that works great with my skin. It was always a struggle for me while battling acne and oily skin, and it’s a struggle with my now dry skin, as well. This 4-step routine works really well with my dry skin: I start with Erborian Bamboo Matte Lotion* all over, then mix Armani’s Luminous Silk in 4.5 with Chanel’s Vitalumière Aqua in 10 Beige applying it with a beauty blender and I then apply Maybelline’s Age Rewind concealer, whenever needed (usually just around my eyes). The Bamboo Matte Lotion didn’t sound like something that would work with my dry skin at first, but I fell in love with it the moment I used it. It minimizes pores, leaves skin feeling smooth and matte, but not dry- it actually works almost like a lightweight moisturizer. Not sure how well it would work with extremely oily skin, but it’s a nice alternative for a primer/moisturizer when prepping your skin. The foundation combo also works really well- Vitalumière Aqua is incredibly light and sheer so I add Luminous Silk for a bit of extra coverage and I get a beautiful, natural-looking finish.
Few other favorites for my dry skin: IT Cosmetics Confidence in a Cleanser* (only wish is that this was fragrance-free), their Bye Bye Redness Cream (so hydrating and great for sensitive skin), The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid (always use this before my moisturizer) and Missha’s Soft Finish Sun Milk 50+ (very lightweight, non-greasy and doesn’t irritate my skin).
Dior’s Créme de Rose is one of my nightstand regulars, along with Weleda’s Skin Food lotion which I usually use on my hands. Probably one of the only things I miss from being on Accutane was that I didn’t have to worry about my cuticles. Sounds weird, I know, but they just wouldn’t grow and always looked perfect and soft. Now with the sudden temperature change, my lips and hands are definitely feeling very dry and Skin Food is a great product to use in place of a cuticle cream (great multitasker, too).
Tom Ford’s Eye Defining Pen is a product that makes me go “I can’t believe I spent 60 bucks on an eyeliner” but if you can afford to splurge, it’s worth every penny. Hands down the best pen eyeliner I’ve ever used; had it for months now and it still works like a dream, goes on smooth and stays on all day. IT Cosmetics Brow Power is my current go-to brow product, mainly because it’s very easy to use and looks very natural, doesn’t oxidize during the day.
In the mascara department, there are two products I’m loving that I already talked about in this post: Urban Decay’s Troublemaker* mascara and Givenchy’s Base Mascara Perfecto.*
