Breakfast Smoothie

breakfast smoothie recipe lifestyle blog

Green smoothies…I love having them for breakfast, the greener, the better :) It’s a healthy, quick and absolutely delicious option.

Spinach and kale are my favorite bases for green smoothies. I love experimenting with adding a bunch of different fruit to create new flavors. Today I used spinach as a base and added some bananas and pineapple for a sweet and smooth taste for my green smoothie. Spinach is packed with vitamins A,K, E and D, antioxidants and is a great source of iron- a mineral that is especially important for us, girls. Pineapple has many anti-inflammatory and digestive benefits, it’s an excellent source of vitamin C, A and Beta-Carotenne.

Green Breakfast Smoothie

1 banana
1.5 cups of fresh spinach
1 cup of fresh pineapple
1 tsp of chia seeds
3-5 ice cubes
splash of filtered water or unsweetened almond milk

Blend all of the ingredients together until smooth. If your smoothie ends up being too thick, simply add more water or almond milk.

I wish I liked them but I’m just not a smoothie fan! Which is a shame because they’re so healthy x

Oh my gosh this is SO perfect Paula! Green goodness for sure! ^_^

Personally I think it’s so much nicer to get the day off to a healthy start (especially as they say breakfast is the most important meal etc etc) so your gorgeous smoothie is that go-to choice ;) Love that you added bananas and pineapple along with the spinach, such an interesting concoction and a real way to mix things up! I don’t eat nearly as much spinach as I should, but I want to try harder, especially as I rarely eat meat these days! :) My Mum’s reply whenever I say I feel tired: “you need more iron, you know you don’t eat enough meat or drink enough milk!” *rolls eyes* :D ;)

Definitely. When our breakfast is super healthy and packed with great nutrition, we are less likely to eat something “bad” throughout the day. This is so easy and quick to make, I literally don’t even have to think about what I’m doing!

Haha, I get where your mom is coming from! I used to have bad anemia, so now spinach and iron supplements are used on a daily basis hehe :)
