Some time a go I told you guys how excited I was about finding GlamGlow Brightmud Eye Treatment at my local TJ Maxx. Now that I’ve used it a few times, I’m really glad that I haven’t paid the full price for it.
This is what GlamGlow says about this eye treatment:
“Non-Dry Tapwipe™ Bioactive Mud consists of powerful actives that help minimize puffiness, dark circles, and fine lines while brightening and hydrating the eyes. Natural high bioactivity materials and bentonites absorb toxins delivering high nutrients and minerals essential for ultrabright, amazing eyes. Simply tap-on to deliver the range of advanced active ingredients into the skin then wipe-off, leaving a micro layer of actives for extended results.”
Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Glyceryl Acrylate, Acrylic Acid Copolymer, Propylene Glycol, Dimethicone, Siloxanetriol Alginate, Caffeine, Butylene Glycol, Carbomer, Biosaccharide Gum-1, Benonite, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexyglycerin, Alcohol, Lecithin, Ectoin, Cyclopeptide-5, Sodium Hydroxide, Iiex Paraguariensis Leaf Powder, Xanthan Gum, Sorbitol, Dihydroxymethylchromone, Ectoin, Troxerutin, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Powder, Theobroma Cacao, Fruit Powder, Paullina Cupana Seed Powder, Coffea Arabica Leaf, llex Guayusa Leaf Extract, Coffee Bean Powder, Sigesbeckia Orientalis Extract.
The use of this product is pretty simple, you pop one of the dual ChromeCells open, apply the treatment around your eyes, leave it on for three minutes and wash off immediately after that, without allowing it to dry. I washed off the treatment with water, because it seemed ridiculous to follow the instructions that guide to remove it by wiping it off using a dry tissue. The skin around the eyes is extremely delicate, and the idea of rubbing it with a tissue to get the product off just does not sound right.
This is supposed to reveal bright, younger-looking eyes. I was left with quite the opposite: dry, red and irritated skin. At first, the skin under my eyes felt very tight, but as soon as I washed the mask off, it felt much better. After not seeing any results, I thought that maybe it takes more than just one use so I gave it another go after a few days. Same thing happened, my skin felt like it was on fire when I left the treatment on. I looked up this product on Paula’s Choice Beautypedia, and surprise, surprise, I come to find out that it contains film-formers and emolients which can work great, but are very likely to irritate the skin if used in such high concentrations.
I usually don’t mention products that haven’t worked for me, but with all the hype surrounding GlamGlow products, I felt obligated to write this review. Just to make things clear, I like GlamGlow’s face masks, I used them without any issues, but this eye treatment did absolutely nothing for me. I think it’s a shame, especially for the claims that this product makes (help with dark circles, brightening, wrinkles, plumping, hydrating, tired eyes, lines and puffiness… reallly?). I never expect a product to fulfill its claims, they always seems a bit exaggerated, but these claims just sound unrealistic. Seriously, save your money.
