Or… in other words, my Accutane journey continues.
I just started my second month, and still can’t get used to the fact that my face does not look like it’s been submerged in a bucket full of oil, at the end of my work-day.

Ah, so where do I start? I already talked about the Everywhere Multi-Cream few posts ago, where I told you that very few products impress me this quickly. It’s a rich, all-over moisturizer that leaves your skin feeling so quenched and healthy. You can use it as a face cream, hand cream, eye cream- wherever you do use, your skin will feel silky smooth. Chances are, you already know that I’m loving this stuff.
Extremely dry skin? You’ll love the super intense Golden Dry Skin Salve. It’s much thicker- it’s actually a bit difficult to squeeze out of the tube and needs some warming up before applying, but it’s very effective at treating those exceptionally dry patches. This salve is perfect for elbows, heels, arms, knees- all those places where your skin gets super dry during colder months.
Lanolips 101 Ointment, Rose Hand Cream, Allover Golden Dry Skin Salve and Allover Everywhere Multi-Cream.
Lanolips 101 Ointment is a multi-purpose superbalm that I especially love using on my lips. Guys, I know I’ve been yapping about my dry skin and dry lips non-stop but even though I’ve suffered from chronically dry lips for as long as I can remember, I never had to deal with them being as bad as they are now. Few weeks ago I fell in love with the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask, and there’s a new favorite in town. The 101 Ointment gives the same, if not slightly better, effect, without feeling as heavy and sticky. My dermatologist keeps suggesting petrolatum products, but while they do help with “regular” dryness, they’re not much help to me at the moment.
Last, but not least, there’s the Rose Hand Cream– a blend of lanolin and rose oil. I don’t know what it is about rose water and rose oil products, but I used to hate them. Growing up, one of my least-favorite aunts used to always use that old-school, powder cheek rouge that had an awfully strong rose scent. She used to layer it up as if there was no tomorrow. That strong, rosy scent followed her everywhere she went. And then it just lingered for ages. I could always tell she was over, whenever I was walking up the stairs when coming home from my music classes Ever since then, I avoided rose products and it wasn’t until few years ago that I fell in love with them (it all started with this facial mist).
Anyway, going back to this hand cream- it’s pretty amazing. I usually like overly-greasy hand creams- the kind where you can’t really touch anything until it absorbs into the skin. This one is different. It’s soothing, nourishing and hydrating, but it absorbs in heartbeat and does not leave a greasy residue. The delicate rose scent is also very pleasant and not offensive or overwhelming at all. Recently, I also developed eczema on my my hands, which I’m told is normal while starting the accutane treatment, and I’ve been loving this hand cream. My hands are also loving the Skin Food cream and this hand cream from The Body Shop.
As you can see, I really dig these products (they were not gifted to me by the brand, btw). All Lano products contain no artificial colors, fragrances, paragons, petrolatum, mineral oil or sulfates. The secret here is lanolin- something that’s probably best known to breastfeeding mothers. Lanolin is a wax secreted by the sebaceous glands of sheep. While Lano products are said to be cruelty-free (it’s said to be derived from sheered wool) , lanolin (at least in a lot of other products) is often a by-product of meat industry. So, while lanolin is a naturally-occurring substance, don’t let the cruelty-free claim confuse you, if you’re vegan- lanolin is an animal product. It’s actually one of the most commonly used animal-derived ingredients in skincare products.
