THIRTEEN THOUGHTS

Dry skin menu

Dry skin products blogI used to think that having oily skin was one of the most uncomfortable things, ever. That was until my skin turned into a dry and flaky mess. That feeling of tight, irritated and uncomfortable skin is much, much worse. Here are some of my go-to products for when my skin needs some extra moisture and love.

Nuxe Reve de Miel– I wrote about this lip balm a few months a go, and it’s still my favorite. This has replaced my holy grail lip balm product: Dior Creme de Rose. It’s hands down, one of the best lip balms I’ve ever used- and trust me when I tell you- I went through a lot of them.  If you suffer from chronically dry lips, you must give this a try, it’s totally worth the price and lasts for ages. I apply this both at night and morning.

Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream– This cult skincare product has been a saver for my skin, especially during cold winter months. I love snowboarding, but pretty much every season I end up with dry, peeling skin around my jaw and nose, and this cream brings instant relief. It’s also an amazing multitasker, I also use this on my lips, hands, feet, knees, elbows, etc.

Neutrogena Body Oil– I definitely prefer to use oils over body lotions and creams; I feel that they work a lot better and always leave my skin feeling smooth and nourished. In winter, I like to use regular baby oil because it has a thick and very moisturizing formula. During warmer months I usually switch to something lighter like this Neutrogena Body Oil. It has a light sesame formula that leaves my skin feeling soft and silky and gives it a little glow and sheen. I always apply my body oils right after taking a shower, while my skin is still wet (this helps to seal in the moisture), then pat it dry with a towel.

Josie Maran Argan Oil– Similar to body care, when my face feels really dry I go for oils instead of creams and lotions. I’ve used Josie Maran’s Argan Oil for years now and to this day I haven’t found anything that would work just as good. It feels incredibly light on my skin and really helps to relief dry and flaky skin. I used this right after I started using the tretinoin cream when my skin was incredibly dry and was peeling horribly. It’s the only thing that has helped me deal with all that messy flakiness.

Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater– There are many skincare products that have been staples in my routine for a while now. I think that this Rosewater spray from Mario Badescu is one that I’ve been loyal to the longest. I never let myself run out of this spray. I love using this all year long; it helps to sooth and calm my skin and does not irritate it or cause any breakouts. I also noticed that it helps me with the redness quite a bit as well.

c.Booth Honey Almond Nourishing Dry Oil Mist– This mist is going to be a must-have in my beach/pool bag this year. If you’ve used dry oil before then you might know how how unique its feel and formula is. It feels incredibly light, a bit oily, but dry at the same time. It’s a really weird concept, but it does wonders for my skin. The scent is incredible- also have the body butter from the same collection- Honey Almond is a very soothing and pleasant scent. I also love that this comes in a little spray bottle- makes it so easy to apply on hard to reach places like your back or the back of your legs (I guess this depends on how flexible you are :) ). I also talked about this mist and the Mario Badescu Rosewater spray in my post about Best Facial Mists for Sensitive and Acne-prone Skin.
