Here’s the thing: I love all seasons. Well… okay, so maybe I like summer juuuust a bit more than the rest (don’t we all?), but the truth is, there isn’t a time of year I particularly dread or don’t look forward to. When spring comes, everything around us starts to blossom; during summer, our days are longer and nights are warm. Fall brings the sweater weather and that crisp, fresh air we love.. and winter? I love winter for those cozy weekend nights in by the fireplace or long days spend snowboarding. There is one thing about winter though, that I really don’t like (no, it’s not having to wear 5 layers of clothing… although that isn’t always fun, either). It’s dry skin.
A few weeks ago I wrote a detailed post about my current acne treatment and I was blown away by such positive response from you guys. If you’ve read that particular post, then you know that one of the side effects of my treatment is extremely dry skin- not just on my face, but all over my body. Every single time I change or get out of the shower, my skin gets extremely itchy. Two months into my treatment, I also developed eczema on my hands, legs and arms and have to put up with extremely dry skin that comes with it. It’s a very uncomfortable thing to deal with, especially when cold weather and wind make things even worse. On the upside though, Mark insisted on taking over the dish-washing duties, since dish soap and hot water seem to cause major flare-ups on my hands. It’s one of the only household chores I don’t love doing, so I can’t say that I mind… :)
Over the next couple of weeks though, I’m planning to end my dry skin, by incorporating a new Curél® product into my daily beauty routine: Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer. Curél® Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer is free of artificial fragrance and it’s formulated with an advanced ceramide complex that penetrates into your skin’s surface and delivers moisture. Ceramides play an important role in the barrier function of the skin. Those of us who suffer from conditions like eczema have fewer ceramides in the top layer of the epidermis; because ceramides are responsible for retaining water in the skin, as they are lost, the skin becomes dry and damaged.
Curél® Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer helps to repair that moisture barrier (apply daily!) and is water activated: you apply it on your wet skin, right after taking a shower and before you dry off (there’s no need to rinse!). Because you’re applying the product while your skin is still wet and warm from the steam and heat of the water, the expanded skin cells absorb or “trap” the moisture much easier. There are two things that I already love about this moisturizer, and if you’re a long-time reader, you can probably guess what they are. Gorgeous and convenient packaging (a bottle with a pump is perfect for in-shower use) and the fact that this wet skin moisturizer is fragrance-free.
I love practicing some quality self-care during weekends and that’s usually when I have a bit more time to spend on pampering myself. During the week, though, I’m always busy so I love the idea of a product that I can apply right after taking a shower and not having to wait for it absorb (trying to get dressed while your lotion still feels sticky is the worst! especially when you’re in a hurry). I’ll be putting the Curél® Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer to the test and will check back in a few weeks to share my results!
Do you guys struggle with dry skin during colder months?
