Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look In A Palette
When talking about the Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look In A Palette Instyle magazine said CT created “the only makeup palette you’ll ever need.” But did she, really?
I have been dying to try a few products from Charlotte Tilbury, but where do you start? As soon as I saw the limited edition Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look In A Palette ($75.00), I thought *needs it and I needs it now*. I mean…. one, stunning palette that has pretty much everything you need to create a natural, glowing makeup in 5 minutes? Umm, yes, please!
Here’s what Charlotte Tilbury says about this palette:
An all-in-one, beauty palette that EVERY WOMAN NEEDS in her beauty kit for DAY TO EVENING makeup! You don’t need to give me an hour to feel the full force of my makeup magic. Just give me 5 minutes in the wing mirror of your car and I can show you an instant, naturally gorgeous look. I have been working on this look for years and use on clients for anything from the runway to the big day. It is the perfect chic, effortless look on the go.
The formulas are SO easy to blend. The palette colors are SO harmonious. The format is SO easy to use and follow.
Including 7 of my makeup secrets for a natural-looking You-but-Better:
1. Eye Brighten: A youthful brightening eye shadow in a color correcting, brightening pale rose hue to prime the surface of the eyelid for an all day application.
2. Eye Enhance: Adds a dreamy dimension to the eye lid in a natural glowing champagne shade that illuminates the eyelid.
3. Eye Smoke: For softly defined eyes in a universally flattering taupe shade, that can be built up to a very natural smokey eye.
4. Face Bronzer: To define the cheekbone hollows, jawline and nose shape in an all natural, all skin tone bronze color in my best-selling Filmstar Bronze & Glow formula.
5. Cheek Swish: For a healthy, happy glow in a tea rose hue to be applied on the apple of the cheek and blended out.
6. Cheek Pop: For a natural lit-from-within glow, an uplifting pretty pink to be applied to the apple of the cheeks.
7. Face Highlighter: Candlelight for the skin in a candlelit shade to be applied to the outer C-section of the cheekbones, down the nose, on the bow of the lips and inner corners of the eyes.
Eye Brighten, Eye Enhance, Eye Smoke, Face Bronzer, Cheek Swish, Cheek Pop, Cheek Highlighter.
What I like about this palette:
-perfect for traveling
-the colors work great with my fair skin tone, the bronzer isn’t too warm and has cool tones to it
-the formula of these powders and shadows is easy to work with, love the consistency and how smooth they feel on skin
-it’s perfect for anyone who loves natural makeup (which is what I love on most days)
-the palette itself is beautiful, the packaging is sturdy, it comes with a large mirror
-this palette has pretty much everything you need to create an entire day-to-night look (add some eyeliner, mascara a lippie and you’re good to go!)
-great to use on the go
-this palette would be really nice for someone who’s just starting to use makeup and I think that these powders/colors would also work really well with mature skin
What I don’t like:
-this palette is said to be a palette that EVERY WOMAN NEEDS in her beauty kit, but I honestly don’t see this working with deeper skin tones. So no, this will not work for every woman. These colors are light and delicate and I don’t see them “showing” on medium-tan-deep skin- especially the eyeshadows
-if you’re a makeup lover and have quite a large collection, this palette won’t really offer anything new or groundbreaking for you. You’ll probably have a lot of similar products already in your makeup bag, but it is nice to have all of these in one, handy palette
Here’s the thing about this palette: she’s a beauty and the main reason why I decided to get it was because I haven’t tried any Charlotte Tilbury products yet and thought this would be a great place to start. I love going for natural makeup on most days so I’m sure I’ll get a lot of use from this palette and these colors work really well with my skin tone. This palette is absolutely stunning.
As beautiful as the Charlotte Tilbury Instant Look In A Palette is, it’s not one that’d be universally flattering and I only see this working well with fair/lighter skin tones. I think that it’d be amazing if this palette came in at least two versions: Light to Medium and Tan to Dark/Deep. With that being said, Charlotte Tilbury does have two different tutorials up on her YouTube channel using this palette on models with two different skin tones- here and here.
I think this palette would make for a great gift for someone who’s just starting out with makeup or someone who likes VERY natural makeup. If you haven’t tried any Charlotte Tilbury products, the Instant Look In A Palette is definitely a nice way of trying a few of her products. Like I said, she’s a beauty, but she isn’t for everyone- personally, I love this palette.
What other Charlotte Tilbury products should I try next? Do you guys have any favorites?

May 31, 2016 at 11:17 pmI love your reviews! They are always so honest! I still haven’t tried any CT products! Crazy! I would use this palette I think for touch ups only. It looks super easy to throw in my handbag or gym bag. Since I like a more heavier makeup look, I don’t think I can use it as my sole source of makeup.

June 1, 2016 at 4:18 amI also haven’t tried any CT products, but I’m thinking of starting with the classics like Bronze & Glow or maybe one of the lippies. Although I have to say that as a lover of natural makeup and easy one-stop palettes, this one is also calling my name… xx

The Purley Girly
June 1, 2016 at 5:10 amI’ve been intrigued by this too, but was a bit worried it might be just like other things I already have – although admittedly not in one palate together. I’ve tried her mascara before and really hated it. It was the worst panda eye creator I’ve ever used!

June 1, 2016 at 5:55 amThis looks like such a gorgeous palette for on the go! I love Charlotte Tilbury products and I did want to get this except I have a lot of similar products from her range and so (as you say) it didn’t seem like a groundbreaking addition to my collection. Lovely review :)

June 1, 2016 at 11:24 amThanks for the thorough review! I agree that this would be an amazing foray into high-end makeup if you have a smaller stash (or if you are looking for a great travel palette), but for someone with a big collection, there might not be anything groundbreaking in it. It’s beautiful, though :)

June 1, 2016 at 1:04 pmThis palette was a bit off putting for me because I don’t really like how they have the writing pressed into the powders. Though the swatches are absolutely gorgeous! Great review. :)

June 1, 2016 at 2:16 pmThis is such a beautiful and compact palette, although as you mentioned, I don’t think that it would suit skin tones like mine as it is in the lighter side. Great post nonetheless!

June 1, 2016 at 10:25 pmGreat review! I, too, was taunted by CT and her gorgeous products, but had to take a step back because there was no way those shadows would do much for my medium/olive/tan skin… it would be way too similar to the 2341312 shadows I already own. I REALLY wish the medium shade was more satin/matte (less shimmer) and that the darker shade was just a smidge darker (not black, but just a more medium/deep neutral brown). Then I would have really given it a second look.
Paula @ thirteenthoughts.com
June 7, 2016 at 9:57 pmI think it would be brilliant if she released another palette for deeper skin tones. I think they might have missed on a great opportunity there.
steff @ brighterdarling.com
June 7, 2016 at 10:10 pmDefinitely should have done a light/medium and medium/deep version like the filmstar palettes… the really missed the mark there haha!
