Face masks- love them or can’t be bothered with them?
If there is one aspect of a skincare routine I tend to ignore the most, it’s face mask. Even though I have a few favorites and own a whole bunch, I always feel soooo lazy and that 15-20 minutes just seems like eternity.
I definitely tend to indulge in little pamper sessions here and there a lot more during winter. Newest addition to my collection is Kiehl’s Turmeric & Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Masque and, surprise, surprise- it also quickly became a new favorite. Quickly, meaning immediately after my first use. That’s how much I love this stuff.
“Recharge your skin’s youthful glow with this naturally invigorating, skin-energizing masque by Kiehl’s. It instantly brightens dull, fatigued skin and restores its healthy, rosy appearance over time. Formulated with cranberry extract, an antioxidant-packed superberry rich in resveratrol and anti-inflammatory turmeric extract, this unique masque also contains micronized cranberry seeds that can be used to gently exfoliate the skin while washing the masque off after use.”
Surprisingly, this mask didn’t tingle or “burn” my skin at all, it feels very comfortable, with the exception of feeling a little tight towards the end of the recommended 10 minutes. This mask is like an instant facial in a jar: it tightens, brightens skin and makes it look more “alive”. I think anyone with normal/oily skin will absolutely love this mask. It’s a great little pick-me-up for your skin whenever it feels dull and tired.
Skin Food Black Sugar Wash Off Mask is one that I’ve been using for the last couple of months. It’s an awesome exfoliating treatment, but it can be a little harsh, so definitely not one for those with sensitive skin.
“One of Skinfood’s star products, this exfoliating scrub smells heavenly of brown sugar and leaves your skin feeling porcelain smooth and soft. The sugar grains make for an excellent manual exfoliator and dissolve slowly as your massage it gently on your face, so as to not cause too much damage from over exfoliating. The hydrating formula moisturizes your face as it sets, so upon rinsing off your skin is totally glowing and baby-soft“
This mask has a bit of a unique formula. It’s like a hard scrub that you mix with a tiny bit of water, leave on for about 15 minutes, and then rinse with warm water. It has the most delicious scent- it smells sort of like fresh lemons. Great thing about this mask is that in addition to exfoliating your skin, it also moisturizes it, leaving it feeling smooth, soft and clean. Love that it’s all natural, it’s definitely a keeper, although I do wish that it came with a little spatula because the application can get a little messy. If you’ve been following my blog for a while, then you probably know just how much I love my EveLom Rescue Mask. If you’re acne-prone, you need to try this one. My skin has been pretty good lately but whenever I have a breakout, this is the first product that I reach for. I use it both as an all-over mask and as a spot-treatment.
“The ultimate deep cleansing treatment, Rescue Mask is an award-winning complexion booster that removes impurities without drying the skin, for a refined and radiant complexion. Suitable for all skin types, use as a regular deep cleanse treatment 2 to 3 times per week or as an emergency mask for sluggish stressed out skin, to reduce irritation and erupted conditions. Featuring CAMPHOR, ALMOND and HONEY-INFUSED KAOLIN CLAY, this hard-working and versatile mask will get your skin back on track.”
This mask dries out breakouts literally overnight and immediately after rinsing it off my skin has that omg-this-is-some-deep-cleansing-sh*t-right-here type of feeling. I think that this one is a little bit drying, but I always follow up with my Missha Treatment Essence which brings instant relief to that tight-feeling skin and absorbs like a dream right after the mask.
